Argentina’s leading tango violinist and composer and 2024 Latin Grammy winner Guillermo Rubino showcases Argentine music for strings, from traditional tango to the present.
This concert is a culmination of a series of workshops led by Guillermo Rubino with musicians from the US and Canada who’ll protray the path of music for strings in Argentina.
Including the music of Astor Piazzolla, Alfredo Gobbi, Víctor Lavallén, Diego Schissi, and the repertoire of SurdelSur, a string ensemble in Buenos Aires directed by Rubino, the Tango for Strings Orchestra will be joined by the members of Orchestra 2001 and Philadelphia bandoneonist Shinjoo Cho.
Bandoneonist, composer, and pianist Shinjoo Cho began her music studies at age five in Korea and continued her music development in tango, chamber, and improvised music in the US and Argentina. Shinjoo collaborated with music, dance, and film makers in multi-disciplinary projects and performed on notable stages and festivals in the North and South Americas, Europe, and Korea. Read more here.
