Limited resources in the arts community often means that we are faced with making a significant loss on such events, as passing on costs to either the artist (via venue rental fees) or wider community (via high ticket prices) is very much against our core values. 

We’re launching The MAAS Culture Fund, a fiscally-sponsored fund set up to enable MAAS to host 20 public artistic events throughout 2024. THE CULTURE FUND WILL ENSURE:

• Artists can perform their work without out-of-pocket costs for venue fees or equipment

  • Ticket prices stay affordable for all in the community

  • Audio & tech staff are paid for their time & expertise

The Culture Fund will be invested directly in artists, providing them with a high-spec event venue in which to perform, access to all the tech and audio equipment necessary to produce a quality show and the support of an events team in promoting and producing their work… all free of cost.

By creating more financially-sound opportunities for artists to perform at MAAS, we'll be able to give the wider community a larger number of quality arts events to enjoy in 2024. Removing the pressure on ticket sales to cover artist and venue costs allows us to offer those events to the public at low or no cost, making the arts more accessible to everyone, but particularly to those for whom ticket prices are often prohibitive. 

A community that has affordable, quality arts programming on their doorstep is a richer, happier and more connective community, and at MAAS this mission is at the core of everything we do.
