UPSTAIRS @ MAAS
Philly based vocal chamber music ensemble Variant 6 presents RE/FRAME, performing virtuosic pieces that are either new adaptations or are inspired by familiar works. This program will showcase how modern composers interpret music from the past, featuring unique pairings by Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen and John Dowland, J.S. Bach and Bo Holten, Gabriel Jackson and Guillaume Dufay, and works by Jonathan Woody and Joanne Metcalf inspired by the Ave Maris Stella chant. Also featured will be side by side pairings of works by William Byrd and Bruno Bettinelli, Giovanni Croce and Oliver Messiaen, and Thomas Luis Victoria and Francis Poulenc.
